John Harrison LEVEE (1924-2017)

John Harrison Levee was born in Los Angeles in 1924.

It is not only the most French of the American artists in Paris, it’s a synthesis painter of excellence.

Because he took the time to learn how to do his profession, because nothing stopped him from studying art history, because his intelligence permitted him to take from the lesson of the works of the leaders of the School of Paris, because he was never impatient to impose himself or to make himself known, the paintings of John Levee is today one of the strongest and most completed of his generation. Georges Boudaille (Cimaise, July-August 1962)
