The artist was born in Torrès Vedras, Portugal in 1932. He studied architecture at the Beaux-Arts of Porto during two years. He arrived in France in 1963 and settled in Perpignan. Chichorro collaborated with architects until 1968, the moment where he left architecture for painting.
He has produced around 3500 works, achieved more than a hundred exhibitions in France and the world, both in galleries and museums. Numerous articles have been devoted to him in specialized publications.
During the last 45 years Mario Chichorro has been using various techniques: oil on canvas and hardboard, acrylic on chipboard of wood, extruded polyurethane, synthetic resin, chipboard of cork, plastic nailed and divided, glued fabric and different packaging.
